ÉireComposites has world-leading proprietary technology and know-how in thermoplastic composites, from glass-fibre polypropylene (Twintex®) to advanced carbon-fibre thermoplastics such as PEEK and PEKK, and has particular expertise in moulding of new liquid-moulded thermoplastic resins such as CBT®, APLC-12 and APLC-6.

W1Da has successfully designed, developed, built and launched a rugged, safe and strong, high performance yacht (ten metres long) that creates and leads a new market segment for silent, electrically propelled, battery-driven yachts that can generate all their own energy from entirely renewable sources. In addition, the yachts feature a fully retractable ‘Shock-absorbing“ keel and can be easily transported by road.W1Da offers a noise-free “breakthrough“ recreational experience to owners, a significant and considerable reduction in cost of ownership, and set new standards of environmental performance that competitors will not be able to reproduce for three years.

As the yacht’s hull has been manufactured with the VARTM technology, the hull is comparatively heavy and its range when operating on batteries, is limited to 4 hours. Customers desire a longer battery-powered range and so W1Da is looking to pioneer the C-PET technology in its manufacturing process to achieve further enhancements to its yacht performance and make it viable long-term and fully in line with customer expectations.

Since 2012, W1Da’s founders and supporters have invested €850k. Major investment from angel and VC sources of more than €1m is currently in the Due Diligence phase.

W1Da has carried out extensive original market research that identifies and defines completely new segments of the recreational and commercial marine industry, by lifestyle and environmental performance. Previous approaches segmented the market by size. W1Da  has developed a unique, environmentally-friendly, emission-free range of transportable boats that offer high performance racing, and comfortable cruising in places other yachts in its class cannot reach.

W1Da commissioned a top International Yacht Designer to carry out structural analysis onto its concept and specification that meets EU regulatory standards. W1Da has learnt from USA, Swiss and German-based experts to exploit techniques and materials proven in automotive, aerospace and energy sectors, and has acquired precision CNC patterns on which its accurate, robust production moulds are based. A Supply Chain has been identified for precision components, and W1Da can build boats that are stronger and lighter than competitors’ offers. W1Da’s success is based on an innovative ground-up design and volume production in advanced composites and next-generation batteries and entirely new silent motors.

The company owns all the intellectual property in the design and production of the W1Da yachts and systems, and has three patents pending.
