Objectives
The project aims to deliver Sustainable Environmentally-friendly Advanced-Composite Zero-Emission Boats — SEABOAT. This will be achieved by commercialization of the Composite Powder Epoxy Technology (C-PET) manufacturing process within the recreational boat manufacturing segment and by introducing a revolutionary E-Boat design incorporating the C-PET hull into the market, enabling the partners ÉireComposites (composites manufacturing technology expert) and W1Da (recreational boat OEM and electric-boat innovator) to achieve in excess of €45m combined cumulative revenue and 260 jobs from 2021-2023.
ADDITIONAL OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT ARE
To C-PET is a high-performing, cost-effective manufacturing technology that will:
- Lower the cost of boat hulls by 30%, eliminate toxic Volatile Organic Compounds;
- Reduce hull weight by 45% C-PET will be demonstrated & tested in W1Da’s advanced electric boat;
- Reduce operational costs by 60%;
- Delivering 0 (zero) emissions.
To manufacture an 8m boat hull using a manufacturing technology that avoids the emission of harmful levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and reduce the weight of boat hulls by 45%, as compared to conventional manufacturing techniques, by applying the Composite Powder Epoxy Technology (C-PET) developed by Éire Composites
To demonstrate, utilising the W1Da zero-emission E-boat design concept incorporating the C-PET hull, that boats can be powered from clean, renewable electricity instead of fuel-powered internal combustion engines thereby eliminating the use of hydrocarbon-based fuels, which will massively reduce the carbon footprint and pollution from boat operations
